The
first week of releases (issue 107, 7 January 1966) is
ready to be included in a programme. However, life and time will
not currently allow this. So, we will continue with revised
recordings for 1970 (not broadcast podcast comments now edited
into the main show). They were recorded in the weeks leading
in to, and during the first lockdown in 2020, by which time Les Newman was now in the house...
and the new releases for 1970 were rather good. If you were
around at the time you may recall hearing some of them on RNI -
Radio North Sea International, or perhaps on Radio 1 in swirling
medium wave.
In lockdown Les and I experimented with Zoom and
Messenger and turned out some reasonably amusing programmes.
As
soon as life allows we will begin to investigate The New Singles
of 1966...if we leave it long enough we may even commence with
the remaining weeks of 1965...
Meanwhile, on Mi Amigo radio from the LV18 anchored at Harwich,
we are playing The New Singles for 1968SATURDAYHour 1 PODCASTDavid

The Trews, from Antigonish, Nova Scotia:
This Top of the Pops clip from 1970 epitomises the sounds and fashions
of the day.
Can you spot the lookalikes of me and Kathy?
Apologies for the abrupt cut-offs at
the end of some of these files.
This was to satisfy the precise mp3 file size requirements of the radio
station.

Morecambe: "We've played all the right songs, but not
necessarily in the right order" - Your corrections are always
welcome
